MailConverter provides. among other things, the capability to append new messages to existing mailboxes. But it is very important to note that Eudora's mailboxes are its own data structures -- they do not belong to MailConverter.
If Eudora is running, be very careful if you plan to use MailConverter or any other third-party application to modify any mailboxes known to Eudora at the time, especially mailboxes that are "open" or modified.
Damaging the mailbox is highly unlikely, but confusing Eudora is a distinct possibility, especially if you have modified the mailbox in some way. For instance, if you delete messages from a mailbox without calling "compact", and then append to that mailbox and force Eudora to recompute the toc, your deleted messages will reappear! At the very least, if you append to an open mailbox, you won't see the new messages unless you close the window and reopen it.
When Eudora 3.0 comes out, we may be able to remedy this limitation, depending on event support from Eudora.
